In our fourth and final spotlight on hidden destinations, we head to Andros, located in the north of the Cyclades archipelago. With Santorini and Mykonos to the south, Andros is a lesser-visited island, offering your clients a quieter option.
The island is around 90 minutes from Athens’ Rafina port by ferry, making it a great spot to twin with the Greek capital. It’s also two and a half hours by ferry from Mykonos.
As the second largest island in the Cyclades, Andros offers clients a perfect blend of beaches, culture and authentic Greek village life.
When it comes to beaches, Andros has sandy beaches and secluded coves and the charming resort of Batsi (pictured) serves as the ideal base with excellent dining options and a handful of bars to enjoy Greek hospitality.
For cultural enthusiasts, recommend a day trip to Andros Town, the island’s capital since Venetian times, where clients can explore both the acclaimed Archaeological Museum and Museum of Modern Art.
Active travellers will also appreciate the Andros Route’s 100km network of marked walking trails, while those preferring to drive can discover the island’s 70 rural villages, mountain landscapes, valleys, and historic monasteries.
