Founded in 1858 as a gold mining camp, Denver is located at the base of the majestic Rocky Mountains, 5,280 feet (1,609 meters) above sea level – exactly one mile high. Convenient access to downtown with the 37-minute train trip directly from Denver International Airport to Denver Union Station to enjoy the walkable city center. It’s easy to get around the compact downtown with the newly renovated pedestrian 16th Street (1 mile long/1,609 meters).

Walk or take the free MallRide where electric shuttle buses stop at almost every corner connecting Denver Union Station to Civic Center Park & the Colorado State Capitol for easy access to museums, restaurants, bars and shopping. Don’t miss LoDo (Lower Downtown) pedestrian friendly areas like McGregor Square, Dairy Block Alley and Larimer Square. It’s also easy to explore by Pedi-cab, E-tuk or electric rental bike or scooter.

With the largest performing arts complex under one roof in the U.S., world-class museums and seven unique art districts, Denver is the arts and culture hub of the Rocky Mountain region.
